Strategic Choices for Developing and Sustaining Institutional Partnerships
The changing context of global higher education is redefining the risks and complexities of partnerships. SIOs are expected to be even more responsive in making tough strategic choices that define best fit models, markets and partners. This interactive and comparative session aims to deconstruct the complexity of developing and sustaining institutional partnerships from a framework of strategic choices. Participants will be encouraged to share the choices they had to make and what were the outcomes.

Presenters:

  • Simon Evans, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), University of Melbourne
  • Stephen C. Dunnett, Vice Provost for International Education, University at Buffalo

Wednesday, February 19 from 11:00 am- 12:15 pm
Scaling and Shaping Global Engagement Strategies in an Era of Technology
In times of fiscal prudence, technology is redefining opportunities of scaling the scope of global engagement in a cost-effective manner. For instance, the emergence of technology-enabled MOOCs is posing tough questions for many institutional leaders on how they can and will respond to this change. This interactive session will discuss the role of technology and technology-enabled models in shaping global engagement strategies from the perspective of institutional leadership.

Presenters:

  • Tim Gore, Director, Global Networks and Communities, University of London International Programmes
  • Steve Ernst, Vice President for Innovation and Strategy, Excelsior College
